Mischievous Melly

Despite Melly's refusal to leave Scarlett alone (we joke that she has a death wish - why else would she make flying leaps at Scarlett's backside while Scarlett is mid-growl?), Scarlett seems to be getting used to the little goofball. She still does her fair share of growling, hissing, and swiping, but there have been a few nose-touches and peaceful sniffs. Scarlett and Melly even napped near each other earlier today: Melly on the cat tree and Scarlett on the loveseat.

Melly, attempting futilely to convince me of her innocence.

This is what poor Scarlett has to contend with. You never know where Melly will pop in from!

I think Scarlett is a little jealous: this is usually her spot.

Melly is such a cutie - I love her round little face. I'm happy to hear that Scarlett continues to warm up to her (although in minute increments).

Oh oh - napping near each other! That's a sure sign mutual acceptance is very close. Scarlett just needs to teach Melly a little kitty etiquette. That's what older kitties do with the young 'uns. Then life is good.

Besides - how could ANYONE possibly resist little Melly? Just not possible...

I don't know if it's because I've had personal experience with the little imp, but her mischevious personality shines through so much in her gorgeous face.

Sweet Scarlett, you will always be the queen honey. Don't let that little patoot push you around. She needs some learnin' as to who's who.

I am assuming you guys like The Simpsons...

Right now Scarlett is thinking as it relates to Melly "Why you little!!!!", (without the Homer/Bart strangling) but how can any carbon based creature fight Sally/Melly?

No chance. I await pics of them napping together... Love to all.

Melly, I think, wants Scarlett to play with her and I'm guessing that will come in time. Look for a long stare between the two and then a sudden wild chase....followed by another stare down and another chase. Don't panic when this happens. It's play even though the first few times you'll think Scarlett is attacking Melly. Eventually they'll probably have a fairly routine time for this (Murphy's Law says when you want to sleep). The napping near each other is a great sign of acceptance.
