Oh, Scarlett

Yes, she has feline acne. And she's gained a pound. My poor dear appears to be going through puberty.

I'm not sure she'll forgive me for the vet trip.

Melly went with us to the vet so that she could be weighed (6.2lbs!). It was agreed that she is extremely adorable, and there was further discussion of what her hair length will be. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a giant plume of a tail.

And also: I have a very busy couple of weeks ahead, so I have written a whole slew of posts and have scheduled them to go up automatically. I've been working on them for a while, so if you notice that Melly is looking smaller, or you don't see the Soft Paws, it's because they're old photos :)

Love Scarlett's pink carrier, but furry Melly in her super colorful carrier is adorably hilarious!

Wow Miss Scarlett, you gained a pound! Sorry you have acne and hope it heals quickly. She has a look on her face that says when you betterlet me out of here now. In the photo of Miss Melly, I can't tell if she is noming the black plastic wall or her head is just turned.

Poor Miss Scarlett. My kitty had acne, but it cleared up quite nicely. Her expression seems to say: oh the indignity of it all!

Have fun while you're away from blogland!

Well, at least you know it is acne, not bunny kicks, and you can treat it. Glad they are both doing well; the pic of Melly is hilarious.

Ah, puberty. As long as Scarlett doesn't want to get her nose pierced, or get a garish tattoo, or bring home a boy cat with shifty eyes.... everything will be okay.

Oh, Scarlett, you poor little ducky...!! Well hang in there, it'll get better!

Poor Scarlett - we know you will get through the teen years soon but we know you must not be loving it right now. But don't worry, the acne will go away!

And wow, Melly is only 6.2 lbs - how old is she again? Because our 13 week olds are 4.3 and 3.11 - I bet Melly will be a little cutie girl (somehow I end up with giant hulk cats, except for one little cutie boy).

Ayla & Iza: Thank you!

Sylvestermiasmomma: Melly was smooshing her nose up against the mesh, trying to get out. She was not pleased that Scarlett was getting all the attention. :)

Marlene: Thanks, I will!

Cynthia M. Suprenant: The mental image of a pierced, tattooed Scarlett cracked me up!

Amy: Melly is almost 6 months old. She has been refusing to eat kitten food, which may be why she's so teeny. The vet said that could be very problematic for her health later on, so I've embarked on a new kitten-food encouragement program. Unfortunately, Scarlett likes it, and will probably only get fatter.

Oh, I feel like Clara Barton or Florence Nightingale because I'm the one who suggested, in Melly's defense and from experience, that Scarlett has feline acne. Now it will be so simple to get her back on track if she flares up again.
Hugs to those sweet girls!
