Melly and the Crab

To give my sister a taste of the wonderful seafood found here in the Northwest, we got a couple of live crabs to steam for dinner.

Melly was intrigued.

The crab opened its mouth very wide and moved its claws toward Melly, which encouraged her to get closer, oddly enough.

This is the last vacation post - on Monday we'll be back to normal.

There's that whole "curiosity" thing in motion! So cute! Especially because I'm assuming she didn't get eaten by the crab...

We hope Melly didn't get pinched! And that she got a bite of crab. Cooked.

*Love* how Melly hangs out on Geoff's shoulder while there's cooking going on.

I'm thinking maybe Ms. Melly needs to have her very own blog: The Sous Chef.

@Katnip...I think Natalie got a little nervous about how close the crab's pincers and Melly were getting, but I was VERY ready to pull back the crab if I saw any aggressive pincer action. As for a bite? Nope, not a chance. We weren't about to share.

@Anonymous, she definitely needs to use her claws a lot more, to stay in place, leaving a fair amount of scratches on my shoulder, but she does love that perch.

I saw the movie Ratatouille, but I think Melly must be Catatouille.

That is so funny - we hope the crab didn't decide to close those claws too quickly!!
