Neighbor Cat

There are quite a few outdoor cats on my block. They are all friendly, but one in particular, a blue lynx point Siamese, is a total sweetheart. It has huge blue eyes and a squeaky meow like Melly's, and it loves to rub against my legs. (I say "it" because I haven't determined its sex.) The Siamese met Scarlett once through the window shortly after we moved in, but Scarlett scared it away with death glares and growls.

Apparently the Siamese forgot that this is the Domain of Scarlett, because it came over to the bedroom window the other day to check her out. By the time I got the camera, the neighbor cat had retreated about fifteen feet away, but the two were still watching each other.

After a while, Melly came in to see what all of the fuss was about. She joined Scarlett on the window sill and the two continued to keep an eye on the other cat.

The Siamese eventually wandered away, and Melly found herself on the window sill with nothing to do. The obvious solution to this problem was to play with Scarlett's tail.

Of course, that didn't go over well, and soon there was this:

Ridiculous.

Well, that went prett well considering the other cat involved - any time my cats see another cat outside (which is very rare) a huge fight breaks out between them all. Same thing happened with my cats growing up. So I am impressed that Melly jumping up there didn't meet with an instant smackdown!

Amy & The House of Cats' experience is exactly the same as mine! You got off easy ... I wonder if Scarlett & Melly's reactions to any "terribly frightening cat of the outdoors" will intensify as Melly ages? Don't worry if that happens, in my experience the battles indoors were always pretty benign (though loud) and also brief.

I sincerely hope that the last image is of Scarlett finally getting the best of Melly. :)

Silly Melly...she may learn...and then again she may just not care! It's good to see them working in tandem to "death stare" the introoder kitty. For a minute, anyway!

A HA HA HA...we do the SAME thing~! And if there's effur introoders by our house, Skeeter just goes mental and attacks the first cat she sees. It's usually poor King.

We had a visitor cat come around the front yard lots last year. We know cuz we could see it out the window, rubbin against TBT and get scritches!

We were NOT happy about that.
