Naughty Melly

Melly has recently discovered that she can get a great view of the kitchen counter from on top of the kitchen garbage can.

She was very good about just looking, until...

That shriveled brown thing on the counter is a cured sausage made by Geoff (you can read more about his sausage-making adventures here). It's very tasty stuff, and I'm sure it smelled quite scrumptious to Melly.

It was at about this point that Geoff, who was sitting behind me, looked up, saw what Melly was doing, and yelled for her to get down. Of course, Melly was completely unfazed, whereas I jumped about three feet in the air.

Note: there used to be a Squirt Bottle o' Discipline, but it cracked. I have not yet replaced it, so Melly has been running amok.

She's incorrigible.

Awww she isn't a bad girl! I am sure that sausage was so pungent she just couldn't control herself! Even when you took it away I bet the scent of it remained on the counter.

I rarely have ever used a spray bottle for either of my cats. I just say "NO!" in a very, very firm voice (and move the offender if necessary, gently)...both of my cats always did really well with the word "NO!"

I decided a long time ago that I couldn't use a squirt bottle because I have too much electronic equipment about. So, I use the "no" technique or the Can of Compressed Air of Discipline. That works pretty well (better than the "no" or "get down!" Techniques)

Still, lucky naughty Melly hehehe

Amok, amok, amok! That's when kitties are at their best!

I especially like that you were just sitting there taking photos of Miss Melly instead of telling her no - hee, hee....

Good job, Melly!!!!!!!!!!! We're happy to hear the spray bottle had run amuck!!!!!!!!

We also think Geoff shouldn't have left that sausage on the counter to temp you if he thought you shouldn't have it!!!!!!!!

Love to y'all.

Some kitties embody 1 or more amoks and "NO" just doesn't work for more than an ear twitch. Melly seems like a sweet one.

My Marbles is like that!
I have several Squirt Bottles o' Discipline, for both canine and feline mischief.

Though I am not sure where they all are....hmmmm....

Well, if the sausage was left out it must have been for Melly!

There are just some things that will make a kitty lose control. Pungent sausage being one of them.

Oh Melly
We are sure Geoff's sausage just smelled so good to you that you had to try some for yourself. We think she is complimenting Geoff!

Good for you Melly. Our mean Mommy lets the DOG guard our kitchen, so we don't have a chance to snitch food.~The Cats

PS: We are planning to make a deal with the dog. We will knock some foods on the floor for him if he doesn't guard the food.

Melly don't worry - it is a tuxie thing to try and get on the counter - Kirzon started it at our house, though rarely, then Virgil picked up the torch. Now they have been bad and taught the younger cats, but it started with the two tuxies. So it is just in your nature to try it!

And we have a squirt bottle o discipline too - it is empty right now so we are using that to our advantage!

Naughty Melly! Silly girl! You would have fun with my tabby kitty who is also full of mischief. I broke my squirt bottle years ago and so now a loud No is what does the trick most of the time.

I'm sure she just couldn't help herself with such a tempting treat! I am amazed that she didn't knock over the garbage can.
