Rules? What rules?

My biggest rules with the cats are that they're not allowed on the counters and they are not allowed on the kitchen table. Breaking either rule results in being squirted by either Justice or Discipline (Geoff named the squirt bottles).

So, when I walked into the kitchen and found this, I was not exactly thrilled.

But Melly was so cute that I had to take some pictures before evicting her.

It turned out that Sister was skyping with her boyfriend, a cat lover and one of Melly's newest admirers.

Thank you all for your kind comments for Scarlett yesterday. The last couple of days have been quiet here, and Scarlett has spent the evenings curled up on my lap, purring. (Melly has been on a path of destruction lately, so she has been too busy for such sedate activities.) Also, I do give the cats Rescue Remedy - it seems to keep their fights from getting too violent.

Melly, you look purrfectly comfy there, we think the rule is silly.

BTW, we're not allowed on the counters or dining table, either, *in our mom's presence*. She does, however, occasionally hear us up there when she's in bed, reading at night, or will come home to find something knocked over. So what we do when she's not looking is another matter. :-P

Ah, to heck with Justice and Discipline! Who can fault your sister for letting Melly nestle in that time-honored and traditional place: between the forearms of a typing person. :) Sweet!

I never did like Discipline anyway.

Audrey and I sometimes get in on the video skyping. It is fun to see the kitties as well as thehumans!

if you look closely enough you will find that Melly is NOT breaking the rules. She is not on the table, she is on a NOTEBOOK... a clear exception to the table /counter rules..

Melly, good job!!!!!!!!! Us kitties know that ALL rules are made to be broken!!!!!!!!

Scarlett, we hope that things will soon settle down for you.

We love both of you gorgeous gals.

Technically Melly isn't on the table - she's on a book!

We have no such rules here! The humans are lucky we allow them to use the kitchen counters and dining room table at all.

Melly
You were definitely charming your way on Skype!
Mom knew we were going to go where we wanted when she wasn't home, so she just gave up, now she just covers everything, and the only time we get up on the counter is when she is feeding us.
(we have HER trained)

Rules...made to be challenged, broken and then spoken of only in the context of "in the before times"....

Our mom gave up trying to keep us off the counters and table. Now the only rule is we can't be on them when there is food there or the humans are eating. Of course, we try to break that rule too!!
