On the Balcony, Part I

Geoff's condo has a balcony off the living room, and when Scarlett was an only kitty, she was allowed free reign of it. We let Melly onto the balcony once when she was a kitten, but after an escape attempt, she was relegated to the indoors.

A couple weeks ago, we took the cats up to Geoff's for the weekend. The weather was gorgeous, so we (Geoff, me, sister, and sister's bf) were eating dinner out on the balcony, and the cats desperately wanted to be outside with us. Figuring that four sets of eyes was enough to keep an eye on Melly, I decided to risk letting them out.

Melly wasn't sure what to think of the open door, and said so.

A thorough exploration of the balcony was required.

I took tons of pictures of the cats on the balcony, which I will share over the next couple days.

She looks a little shifty in that last photo, like she's considering her next move!

That last photo needs to go on the icanhascheezburger site with the caption "Yes waiter, I will have the steamed shrimp with a side of salmom, thank you and can you fill my water bowl please"

That looks like quite an adventure! We've never been outside before since our mommy is such a spoil sport.

I think Melly is wondering why it took you so long to let her out on the balcony again!

I think it's her floofy cheeks that I love the best; they give her such an unusual face shape, but SUCH a cute one! And yes, she's definitely plotting her next mischief; that super-innocent look is as much a giveaway in cats as it is in small children. :)

How nice to have a meal out there. I hope the kitties both behave well and that they can go there more in the future. Fresh air is nice!

We think she is REALLY upset at the height of the balcony. More than 8 feet is rather daunting ta jump... So we think she is askin fer a couple of steps down, or a ramp...
