Catnip Toys, Part I

Whenever I vacuum, I gather up all the cats' toys from around the apartment, put them on the shelf in the entryway, and spray them liberally with catnip. This is the result:

Part II will be posted tomorrow.

In other news, Melly has been a little off her game lately and I'm debating whether a trip to the vet is in order or whether I'm being an alarmist. She hasn't been quite as active as usual, although to be honest, I haven't been home as much lately to keep an eye on her routines. She also has a bit of an eye situation: the inner corner is swollen and has an unusual level of discharge. The eyeball itself looks completely fine, but that oozy corner is worrisome. I've been using a cotton ball dampened with warm water to wipe away the discharge, and am flushing out the eye with saline solution periodically. We'll see how that goes.

ETA: I got out da bird to test Melly's energy level and she seems fine. She tore a feather off the toy and is now prancing proudly about the apartment with her prize in her mouth. Nut.

If her eye doesn't clear up within a few days, we suggest a trip to the vet. We will definitely be purraying that it does clear up without the dreaded vet trip.

Love to y'all.

We need to try that catnip spray!
Is the heat bothering Melly perhaps? Keep and eye on that eye (no pun intended).

If the eye discharge looks green-ish/pussy (hate that word) then definitely go. But otherwise, keep an eye on it...uh, no pun intended.

We need catnip spray too. LOL.

Oops, just read Simba's comment and see we wrote almost exactly the same thing!

love Melly's floofy belly. It looks so clean!

Hope Melly's eye clears up quickly!

Oops, just realized you are among the few NOT suffering from the heat these days! Lucky ducks!!

We need some catnip spray! If Melly isn't feeling quite right, it might be because of that swollen area near her eye. What some of the other commenters said, if it doesn't clear up soon, take her in - there might be some sort of low grade infection going on.

Why not phone the vet, describe Melly's symptoms, and let him/her decide what to do?

We LOL'ed at that smacky paw!

Maybe Melly has allergies? We agree, give it the weekend and see how her eye is on Monday.

That spray must be good stuff!

We hope Melly continues to feel better and that her eye gets better too.

My philosophy is "when in doubt, see the vet"...it never hurts!

Loved the catnip video! You might enjoy my video from this past Wednesday when Cody was playing with his catnip toy! I think you might get a kick out of it, stop on over!

OOh, that catnip spray looks fantastic. :)

Sorry to hear about Melly's eye. If it goes on for much longer, you might want to have it checked ... our Sammy had an abrasion on his eyeball, and we had to give him eye drops (and he had to wear the cone of shame!) for three whole weeks.

We dont have nip spray, but TBT sometimes puts a few toys inna bag of nip leafs fer a week. They are great when they come out again!

We hope Melly's eye is OK!

My household just came back from the vet for kitty's goopy eyes (clear discharge in corner, seeing some of the 3rd eyelid) Doc said it was not bacterial but a recurrence of a viral infection that most cats get as kittens (kind of like cold sores or shingles) and gave us some ointment to make it more comfortable. Doc said it wasn't from another cat, but stress could bring on the goopy eyes. So check up on the eye, but if you are lucky it won't be too big a deal.
