Melly Snuggles

For some reason, I rarely have the camera around when Melly decides to snuggle, but this time, it was within reach. This is pretty tame for Melly: usually, her snuggles are more like full-body tackles. She leans into me, head-butts me, and even wraps her arms around my neck while nuzzling under my chin.

New Curtains

As I've mentioned before, my apartment is old. Really old. It's pretty drafty, and my winter heating bills are a little painful. So, in an effort to cut down on the drafts, I reworked an old set of curtains and put them on the bedroom windows. Unfortunately, they're red and my walls are green, but hey, it's almost Christmas anyway.

The cats aren't very fond of this new development, but they're adjusting.

Scarlett's Favorite Spot

I flipped Scarlett's blue blanket around because the corner she always lay on was getting smooshed, but now there's a big lump in her favorite spot. I was hoping she'd just sit on it and smoosh the lump down too, but she is so far thwarted by it.

P.S. I've been dealing with some eye strain lately - I sit at a computer all day for work - so my blog visiting may be a bit sporadic for a while. (On a related note: I don't always comment, but I do read your blogs, I promise!) I'm scheduling a bunch of posts in advance to minimize my screen time at home, and hopefully I'll be back to normal soon.

And to address a couple of comments from yesterday:

I can't remember the last time I used the ironing board for its intended purpose, but because the communal dryers in my apartment building burn my poor clothes to a crisp, I use the ironing board as a drying rack for my laundry. Which makes it all the funnier that Melly likes to hang out on it: it's often covered in damp socks!

Marlene said: "And you are right, she is more adorable than anything else. I would probably ruin the moment by running up to her, squeeing aloud and kissing her while rubbing the sides of her head... yes, I am that kind of person :)"

Marlene, I am that kind of person too: I do that to Melly on a daily basis.

Melly on the Ironing Board

When I do laundry and hang it to dry from the ironing board, Melly loves to hang out on top of the board. This time, there weren't any damp socks for her to lay on, so I put the catnip quilt down for her. She loved it.

Added bonus: she could spy on Scarlett through the holes.

All the spying wore her out.


Scarlett seemed to be considering jumping up on the ironing board, so Melly made herself extra tall and threatening. It worked, although I think Melly looks more adorable than threatening.

"Human, I am going to sit on your lap."

"Ahh, yes. This is the life."

"Bring on the snuggles."

Kitten Lips

This isn't Melly's most flattering angle, but her little mouth is awfully cute.

You could go sit on Geoff's lap, Scarlett. Or next to Melly.
