The One-Kitty Party

I took this video about a week and a half ago and had forgotten all about it until Melly's foster mom, Sue, posted the video of Rosie being silly on her cat tree.

So here is Melly, putting the lessons her kitty foster mama taught her to good use.  It's possible catnip is involved.

This is my first time doing the photo hunt, and I am only partially committing to it because this photo is not an especially creative interpretation of the theme. Also, it's really low resolution due to excessive cropping.

Anyway, here's a picture of Geoff at the Anchor Bar, where Buffalo wings were invented.  Wings=spicy.  Yum.

See! There I am with the cats who, well for lack of a better word we'll say adore, yes, that's it, they adore me!

I'm grateful to you all for chiming in and wishing me well on my birthday.  I continue to be blessed to have Natalie in my life, for which I'm forever grateful.  Also, for the anniversary of my birth, the wee beasties also opted to hop aboard and show their affection for me.

Indeed they were soooo excited, they couldn't wait to get away.

Photos of Scarlett lend themselves well to editing experimentation since her tabby markings look cool with or without color.  I tried a sort of sepia tone in the pictures below.  Also, I think Melly is rubbing off on her: the old Scarlett would never have sat still and mugged for this many photos!

The Way We Were

I do most of my posts a day ahead, so I missed this yesterday, but better late than never, right?  And hey, I'll take any excuse to post Melly's baby pictures.

Most of you have probably seen these photos before, but I think they're worth re-posting.  And of course, I am completely unbiased. Heh.

This is one of the very first pictures of Melly posted on her foster mom's blog, Pitter Pats of Baby Cats.  Melly was about two months old in this photo.

And this is the first picture of Melly that I took after I brought her home.  She was about three months old and very small--only 2.7lbs.

This is the first picture I ever took of Scarlett.  She was four years old when she came to live with me, so I don't have any kitten pictures.  I bet she was darn cute, though!

This is another early photo of Scarlett, in which she is modeling her favorite pink rhinestone collar.  You'll notice that she is quite svelte, which is due partially to her youth, but mostly to the fact that she was an indoor/outdoor cat at the time.  She used to roam the neighborhood for a couple of hours every evening, but she always came back when I called her in before bed.

A Disagreement

I think this is the first time I've seen Scarlett on the shelf under the TV; usually that's Melly's place to clog the electronics' fans with cat hair explore, and Melly was not pleased to find Scarlett there.  Much swatting (both cats), hissing (Scarlett), and growling (Scarlett) ensued.

"What?"

"Yeah, what?"

Goofball

Melly wriggled under the fleece blanket on the couch while I was watching TV and amused herself by bunny kicking the bejeezus out of the blanket.  After a while, I lifted up a corner of it to take pictures of her, but she stopped playing as soon as the blanket moved.

"Nothing to see here."

"Just us mysterious types."

"Seriously, lady, move along."

"Ooh! Camera strap!"

A Little Bit Foxy

I have long thought that Melly looks rather like a fox, with her big ears and floofy cheeks.  I still haven't found a picture that shows her from the right angle, but this comes pretty close:
