Scarlett finds a perch and is confused

"What is that?!"

"Oh, it's just a spider."

"I'll leave it to Melly."

Melly is Rubbing Off

I walked by the living room doorway recently and did a double take when I saw how Scarlett was laying. Check out all that belly floof! That's is a Melly-esque napping position if ever I saw one.

"Oh, hi. I'm just dozing and showing off my floof."

"Shuddup, Melly. You do not have a monopoly on floof."

"Hmph."

Yes, It's Still Here

My apartment is decorated in the latest in Cardboard Box Chic. It's the latest thing. The cats love it.

"Yo. I was trying to take a nap here."

"Buzz off, lady."

The Traveling Captain America Shirt

Remember the Captain America t-shirt that was (hilariously) too small for Melly? Well, I sent it off to Ted for him to try on his kitties. He posted some pictures and videos, which are excellent and definitely worth checking out: http://infinitewandering.blogspot.com/2013/09/captain-america-cats.html. Ted is going to send the shirt to Rene next, because it may actually fit her dainty Sadie.

Now, fortunately for Melly, there are no more pictures of her cosplaying one of my favorite superheroes. So today, I bring you Mellybean in a box:

"Thank you for building me such a fabulous box fort, Mom! I love it."

Please note in the background Scarlett's pink sock. It is one of the two socks that she "kills" and, after loudly announcing her victory, brings to me. Every morning.

So, I'm back... again.

Blogger finally deigned to let me in, so I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to write and schedule as many posts as I can in case of another malfunction. Pesky Blogger.

Anyway. You didn't miss too much, as far as the cats are concerned. My dad visited, which was great, but I didn't get as many pictures of him with the cats as I'd hoped. I don't think the cats remembered him from his last visit two years ago, but they got along well. Scarlett enjoyed rubbing her head on Dad's toes (weird), and he reported that he woke up from a nap once to find Scarlett snuggled into his side.

Melly was her usual friendly self, of course. She loves people.

I neglected to take pictures, but while my dad was here, he and I made a trip out to the Humane Society, where I dropped off the last of my 50 beds (plus one extra). We walked through and looked at (and talked to) all the animals, and my dad was very impressed by the cat rooms. Considering that his local Humane Society is a full-on farm, I think that says something!

Scarlett continues to struggle valiantly against a stubborn case of acne. I have taken Caren's advice and am feeding Scarlett a tiny bit of coconut oil each day. I also read that applying it topically may help too, so I'm using coconut oil on her chin in the morning and Douxo pads in the evening. I'll keep you all posted on whether the oil helps. Fingers crossed!

Princess and the Pea

As always, the pile of in-progress cat beds is very popular.

"I'm just testing these. In the name of science. Or something."

"You should be pleased to know that they're very cozy."

"Yes. Very comfy. And thanks to me, very nicely pre-furred."

Melly in the Sunbeam

I was changing the sheets on the bed and had piled the comforter on top of the laundry hamper. Melly seized the opportunity to do a bit of window-adjacent lounging.

"Ahh."

Updates and things

So here's what's going on around here:

1) Scarlett's acne is back with a vengeance. I've been cleaning and disinfecting and Duoxo-ing her chin, but this is some seriously stubborn acne. I think the culprit this time is probably the plastic bowl in the timed feeder, which is annoying since it's a bit tricky to find an alternative.  For the time being, I've put a small glass dish inside the feeder. We'll see how this works.

2) My dad is coming to visit. He is not really a cat person, which of course guarantees that the cats will be all over him. Photographs to come.

3) This box is still extremely popular.
